Privacy Policy

How we handle information on pennwireless.org.

Who we are

Penn Wireless Association (W3SK) is a volunteer amateur radio club based in Lower Bucks County, Pennsylvania. This policy explains what information this website collects, how it is used, and the choices you have. We are a small community organization, not a commercial business, and we keep data collection to what the site actually needs.

Information we collect

Information you provide. When you apply for membership, sign in, update your profile, contact us, or pay dues or donate, you give us details such as your name, callsign, email address, mailing address, and membership status. Payments are processed by Square; we receive a record of the transaction but never see or store your full card number.

Information collected automatically. Like most websites, our host records standard technical data (such as your IP address, browser type, and the pages you visit) for security and reliability. We also use Google Analytics to understand, in aggregate, how the site is used.

Cookies and similar technologies

We use a small number of cookies, in these categories:

  • Strictly necessary. Keep you securely signed in to the member area and protect forms against abuse (sign-in session and Cloudflare Turnstile security checks). The site cannot function without these, so they are always on.
  • Analytics. Google Analytics (GA4) sets cookies to measure visits and general usage trends. This helps us improve the site. The data is aggregated and is not used to identify you personally.
  • Payments. On the dues, donation, and join pages, Square may set cookies needed to process payments securely and prevent fraud.

You can control or delete cookies through your browser settings, and you can opt out of Google Analytics with the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on. Blocking strictly necessary cookies may stop the member sign-in from working.

Third-party services we use

  • Google Analytics — website usage measurement.
  • Square — secure payment processing for dues and donations.
  • Cloudflare Turnstile — privacy-friendly spam and bot protection on our forms.
  • Google Calendar & Drive — power our public calendar and document hub.
  • YouTube — when a video is embedded, we use the privacy-enhanced mode, so YouTube does not set cookies unless you press play.

Each of these providers handles data under its own privacy policy.

How we use information

We use the information above to run the club and this website: to manage memberships and dues, send club communications and renewal reminders, respond to your messages, keep the site secure, and improve how it works. We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for third-party advertising.

How we share information

We share information only with the service providers listed above so they can perform their function (for example, Square to process a payment), and only when required to comply with the law or protect the club. Your details are visible to club officers and, where you choose, in the members-only directory.

Your choices

Members can review and update their own information from the profile page after signing in. To ask about the information we hold, to correct it, or to request deletion, contact us using the details below. You can also manage cookies and analytics as described above.

Data retention and security

We keep membership records for as long as you are a member and for a reasonable period afterward for our records, and we take sensible measures to protect them. No website can guarantee perfect security, but we limit access to club officers and use reputable providers for sign-in and payments.

Children

Amateur radio welcomes operators of all ages. This site is intended for general audiences and is not directed at children under 13. If a minor wishes to join, a parent or guardian should handle the application and account.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the “Last updated” date at the top of this page.
